All My Friends Are Funeral Singers

I finally got to see All My Friends Are Funeral Singers, the movie directed by Califone frontman Tim Rutili. I thought it was pretty great to have a movie accompany such a wonderful record. The story follows a young psychic who lives in a house along with a cast of ghosts who are “trapped” in the house and suddenly decide they want to leave. The band is prominent throughout the movie, providing some great soundscapes that add to the the supernatural vibe, as well as some tracks from the album scattered throughout.

If you haven’t heard Califone, I’d recommend changing that ASAP. Here is the trailer for the movie:

Coach House Sounds

One of the bands I play with, Reds and Blue, recently visited Coach House Sounds to record a session. The Coach House studio is exactly as it sounds, it is the basement room of a Coach House nestled into the Wrigleyville neighborhood, close to one of my favorite venues, Schubas.

We basically showed up with keys, bass, and pedals, plugged in/set up, and pounded out 6 songs with very little complication. It was definitely one of the better sessions we have participated in, and the results are pretty great. Doug, our engineer, did a great job getting everything down, and Matt, was kind enough to have us over to play, so thanks! I have linked the video here, and you can also check out the audio and some photos at their website.
