The new High On Fire record, Snakes For The Divine, is getting constant play in my rotation these days. With each previous record, this band has always taken months of listening for me to warm up to them, and I still have never been sold on them. However, I believe I am beginning to see what I have been missing out on. The production of this record really stands out to me, and the songs themselves speak to me in a way most of their previous work hadn’t. Matt Pike sounds a lot like Lemmy on this record, which is never a bad thing in my book, and the riffs are memorable. I anticipate this record being on many 2010 “best-of” lists.
